Woman found dead, man in critical condition in Tampa homicide investigation

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office launched a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead and a man was injured on Friday.

Around 4:58 p.m., deputies responded to the 15100 block of Alexis Drive in Tampa for a welfare check.

According to HCSO, at the scene, deputies found the body of a woman and a man with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition.

“This is a tragic loss for the family, and we extend our condolences during this difficult time,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This incident underscores the serious and lasting impact of violence on families, and our detectives are working to fully understand what led to this tragedy.”

Detectives said they believe this is an isolated incident.
