Police are investigating an apparent shooting in Lauderhill that left a man and a young woman dead, and a family member said the victims were innocent bystanders.
7News cameras captured a heavy police presence at the Hidden Forest Condominiums along Northwest 19th Street, just after 5:15 a.m. on Friday.
The shooting took place in a parking lot at the complex, at around 11 p.m. on Thursday.
The family member who spoke with 7News said she is related to the 23-year-old female victim.
“Our family member A was killed tonight. There was another fellow that died in the hospital. We need answers; the family don’t know what’s going on,” she said.
The family member said she has an idea about what unfolded.
“Supposedly it was a fight. She – they didn’t have anything to do with it; it was other people,” said the family member. “All we know is that sombeody started shooting.”
The family member said A died at the scene, and the man died at the hospital.
It remains unclear whether these people were targeted, as well as how they knew each other.
While police continue to piece this all together, family members are praying that someone comes forward.
“Put the guns down, put the guns down. You can’t bring a life back,” said the family member who spoke with 7News. “If you know anything, please come forward, because we need answers.”
As of 9 a.m. on Friday, police do not have any subjects in custody. 7News has reached out to the police department for more information, as detectives continue to investigate.
