Woman who survived dangerous accident in Bahamas meets rescuers at St. Mary’s

Thursday morning, Annie Flanigan, who survived a serious accident in the Bahamas this summer, recounted the incident where she fell off an embankment on Walker’s Cay while riding her e-bike.

The fall resulted in major injuries to her head and other parts of her body.

During the accident, a power outage complicated the situation. Fortunately, St. Mary’s nurse Cam Conrad, vacationing nearby, provided immediate assistance. His help was crucial until the Coast Guard arrived for an airlift.

The Coast Guard faced additional challenges due to the power outage, but locals turned on their vehicle lights to aid in securing Flanigan during the rescue. She was successfully airlifted to St Mary’s and is now ok.

Flanigan recently reunited with Conrad and the Coast Guard pilots in South Florida.

“The odds of this happening, this night with people there to help me, is beyond a miracle,” she said.

Credit was also given to the local Bahamians who played a significant role in the rescue effort. Flanigan and those involved emphasized the coordinated teamwork that contributed to the successful outcome.
