Worker hospitalized after falling down elevator hoistway in West Palm Beach

A worker in West Palm Beach was trapped under an elevator Thursday morning.

According to a spokesperson with the West Palm Beach Police Department, a worker repairing the elevator in the City Garage, near Banyan Boulevard and Olive Avenu,e fell down the hoistway around 9:45 a.m.

West Palm Beach Fire Rescue rescued the trapped worker, and they were transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach. The victim is expected to survive.

As of 10:55 a.m., North Olive Avenue and Banyan Boulevard are closed due to the response.
