Authorities are investigating after two people were ejected from a vehicle in the 7300 block of South Dixie Highway early Wednesday.

The West Palm Beach Police Department confirmed Wednesday afternoon that one person is dead, and another person was critically injured.

The serious crash involved a box truck and an SUV.

The police department said neither occupant of the box truck was wearing a seat belt.

Officials said the driver and passenger in the truck were ejected. The driver of the SUV was not injured.

“Both men in box truck suffered critical injuries,” according to West Palm Beach Fire.

They were rushed to St. Mary’s Trauma Center.

South Dixie Highway was closed in both directions from East Summa Street to Wilder Street (south of Forest Hill Boulevard) while Traffic Homicide Unit detectives conducted the on-scene investigation.
