1 dead, 3 seriously injured after wrong-way crash in Clermont, troopers say

A wrong-way crash on State Road 33 killed an Orlando man and seriously injured 3 others, troopers say.

A fiery wrong-way crash in the early hours of Sunday morning killed a 24-year-old Orlando man and seriously injured two others, troopers said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. when a 2026 Camry began heading north in the southbound lane of State Road 33 near Baker’s Lane. At the same time, a 2016 Dodge Journey was driving in the southbound lane heading south.

As both vehicles approached Baker’s Lane, they made contact head-on and caused the Dodge to become engulfed in flames, troopers said.

First responders declared the driver of the Toyota dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge and two passengers who were inside the Toyota were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, the FHP said.

Troopers are investigating the crash. WESH will bring you updates when they become available.
