A crash in Brevard County on Friday killed one person and put others in the hospital, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened around 1:22 p.m. along State Road 46 east of Pitbull Lane in Mims.
The crash involved a 2016 Honda Odyssey and a 2014 Lincoln MKX, a news release shows.
According to troopers, the Honda was driving eastbound along State Road 46 when “for an unknown reason” the driver veered into the westbound lane, crashing into the oncoming Lincoln.
The impact caused the Lincoln to run off the roadway, collide with a traffic sign and overturn into a drainage ditch, a crash report shows. Troopers said it came to rest on its roof while partially submerged in the ditch.
The driver and passengers in the Honda were taken to the hospital with serious injuries (one passenger suffered only minor injuries), and the driver of the Lincoln died at the scene, troopers said.
As a result of the crash, a roadblock was set up in the westbound lanes along State Road 46, according to the FHP.
