1 dead, another injured after fight breaks out at St. Pete club: police

 One person is dead and another was injured after several shots were fired at a club in St. Petersburg overnight.

According to the police department, a fight broke out at 3:19 a.m. in a club near 9th Avenue South and continued into the parking lot.

While trying to flee the scene in a vehicle, 27-year-old Delvin Jaquez Ford crashed into a pole. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police said a second victim, only identified as a 26-year-old woman, was hit in the leg. She is in stable condition.

This remains an active investigation.
