One person was hospitalized after a fight that led to a shooting in Winter Haven Monday afternoon, according to police.

The Winter Haven Police Department said they received a 911 call just after 4:30 p.m. about the shooting, which happened along Ave. H NW.

The 911 caller told officials that a man had gotten into an altercation with a friend, which eventually led to the shooting. The victim was taken to Winter Haven Health by Polk County first responders, police said.

The man who fired the gun stayed at the shooting scene, and investigators said they were interviewing him. Authorities said one apartment in the area was damaged by gunshots, but no one inside the residence was injured.
