A person has been injured and another is in custody following a shooting in Southwest Miami-Dade.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the shooting at Tire Liquidators Miami II Inc. located on Southwest 21st Street and 67th Avenue on Monday afternoon.
Aerial footage showed an increased police presence at the shop.
Officials said an argument between a customer and an employee resulted in a shooting.
Detectives said two customers entered the tire shop and had an argument that turned physical with an employee over work that was being done on a car. During the fight, the employee took out a gun and shot one of the men in the leg.
The male victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
7News cameras captured the victim arriving to the hospital in the ambulance.
The employee was taken into custody. Officials said the employee was treated on scene for an injury.
A third person told officers that he had sustained injuries to his hand. He was seen sitting on a stool outside the shop.
The tire shop owner said his employee acted in self-defense as two men came to the shop to ambush the employee. He said he doesn’t know what the fight stemmed from.
The owner said he was aware that his employee was carrying a weapon. He said the employee has been working at the shop for five years.
Police are now investigating this incident and questioning everyone involved to figure out exactly what happened.
