1 injured in random drive-by shooting at Hellcat Lane and SR-46 near Sanford

SANFORD, Fla. – A person was wounded late Monday when someone fired a gunshot into a vehicle at an intersection near Sanford, deputies said.

The shooting was reported around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hellcat Lane and State Road 46.

According to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and officers from the Sanford Police Department responded to a shooting after “an unknown person fired a round into a vehicle.”

The victim was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition, deputies said.

The shooting is believed to be random, according to sheriff’s officials.

A person of interest was questioned in the shooting, but no other details have been released.

An investigation is ongoing.
