One person was taken to a hospital, and another was on the run following a shooting in Lakeland Tuesday evening, police reported.
The Lakeland Police Department said the shooting happened on New Tampa Highway and was the result of a fight between two adults.
Authorities have not released the identities of either person involved, but said they knew each other prior to the incident.
One of the people involved was taken to Lakeland Regional Health to be treated for a gunshot wound, officials said.
There was a large police presence in the area Tuesday night as officers continued their search for the suspect. The suspect was believed to be at a home in the area.
No further information was immediately available.
