1 killed in fiery crash when semitruck rear-ends vehicle on I-95 in Volusia County

One person was killed Tuesday night in a fiery wreck when a semitruck rear-ended their vehicle on I-95 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 11:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes near mile marker 248.

According to a crash report, a vehicle was traveling ahead of the semitruck when the semitruck driver struck the back of the vehicle. The impact caused both the vehicle and semitruck to go off the roadway and into the trees.

The vehicle then caught fire and was engulfed in flames, according to troopers.

The semitruck driver, a 58-year-old Miami man, and a passenger, a 65-year-old Miami man, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
