A 14-year-old football player was stabbed in the abdomen by another student after a practice game at Jensen Beach High School.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on Monday at 6:30 p.m. on the football field after a fight at Jensen Beach High School.Deputies say they were called to help with the stabbing incident by the Stuart Police Department.
When deputies arrived at the scene they learned the 14-year-old junior varsity football player was slashed in the abdomen with a razor blade by another junior varsity football player of the same age.
Deputies say despite the wound being non-life-threatening, the victim was taken to a local hospital.
The suspect who stabbed the victim was detained and arrested. The teen suspect has since been taken to the Martin County Jail and faces counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
He will be transferred to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice Detention facility.
