17-year-old girl dies in single-car crash in Escambia County

A 17-year-old Cantonment girl is dead after a single-car crash in Escambia County on Monday night.

The crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. when she was driving her Toyota SUV southbound on US-29, south of Tate Road, and ran off the roadway to the right, according to FHP.

Troopers say the SUV crossed the center median and northbound lanes before colliding with a ditch along the eastern shoulder.

The SUV came to a final rest within a private parking lot off of US-29, according to FHP.

The 17-year-old girl was pronounced deceased at the scene.
