A 17-year-old boy riding a motorized bicycle died after a crash with a dump truck on Monday, according to troopers.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened at Belle Terre Parkway and Pine Grove Drive in the Palm Coast area around 4:18 p.m.
Troopers said a dump truck, being driven by a 51-year-old Pierson man, was stopped at the stop sign on Pine Grove Drive, east of Belle Terre Parkway.
According to a crash report, the boy on the motorized bicycle was traveling south on the east sidewalk of Belle Terre Parkway, north of Pine Grove Drive.
The dump truck accelerated from the stop sign and the front of the truck collided with the boy on the bike, the FHP said.
Troopers said after the collision, the truck dragged the boy and the bike onto Belle Terre Parkway.
The driver of dump truck stopped his vehicle in the median of Belle Terre Parkway, north of Pine Grove Drive, according to the FHP.
Troopers did not say if the child died at the scene or at the hospital.
