A 17-year-old was killed and an 18-year-old was injured after a shooting on Wednesday night in Pierson, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened in the area of 380 Main Street around 10:15 p.m.
When deputies arrived, they found a car that had crashed into the wood line along Main Street. A 17-year-old was unresponsive in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds, deputies said. Deputies tried to perform life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at 10:39 p.m.
Two other people were in the car at the time of the shooting, including an 18-year-old who had gunshot wounds to his leg. His injuries, however, were non-life-threatening.
The other passenger was not injured.

The suspect(s) have not yet been identified. Investigators are working to identify those responsible.
