An 18-year-old woman died Monday after a single-vehicle crash on Dunn Creek Road, according to Jacksonville Sherrif’s Office.
Police said she was in the passenger seat of a truck driving with four other people, whose ages ranged from 17 to 22 years old.
According to JSO, the driver failed to make an abrupt turn and went off-road through a barrier into a tree just before 6:30 p.m.
The 18-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries. Police said she was given CPR by friends but died at the scene.
JSO said the rest of the passengers may have minor injuries but no one was taken to the hospital.
Police are still determining if speed was a factor in the accident.
This is the 90th traffic fatality in Duval County this year and the 4th on Labor Day weekend.
