A 19-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash Wednesday night in Pensacola.
It happened around 9:10 p.m. at N 9th Avenue and Tippin Avenue.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist — a 19-year-old Rochester, Minnesota man — was northbound on 9th Ave. in the right lane, just north of Tippin Ave.
Meanwhile, a Nissan SUV driven by a 32-year-old Pensacola woman was southbound on 9th Ave., preparing to turn left into the Walgreens parking lot.
“The driver of the Nissan failed to see the motorcycle, turning left into the motorcycle’s path of travel,” FHP says in a release. “The driver of the Nissan stopped in an effort to avoid a collision. As a result, the motorcycle collided with the right side of the SUV.”
The motorcyclist was thrown into the roadway, while the motorcycle continued to travel on its own across 9th Ave. and into a parking lot where it collided with a parked vehicle, according to FHP.
The motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The SUV driver and her passenger both weren’t injured.
No further details were released.
