Six people were taken to the hospital as trauma alert patients following a crash Sunday afternoon in unincorporated central Broward County, according to fire crews. Two people were pronounced dead, deputies said.
According to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue officials, the crash happened just before 4 p.m. at Northwest 27th Avenue and Sixth Street, near the Washington Park and Boulevard Gardens areas.
Video taken by Local 10 News showed one of the vehicles flipped over on the road and a number of Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies at the scene.
All six victims were taken to Broward Health Medical Center’s trauma unit in Fort Lauderdale, according to BSFR.
BSFR Battalion Chief Michael Kane said all of the surviving victims were in serious to critical condition.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the two victims who died were among the six initially taken to the hospital.
Authorities plan to keep the intersection closed into the evening as they investigate the crash, he said.
