One person died and two firefighters were injured in a house fire Wednesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department.

It happened on Mc Conihe Street, just north of Kings Road and West of I-95.

Officials said the fire started around 8:15 a.m. and the person likely died in the house from smoke inhalation.

Two firefighters were sent to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to make a full recovery.

A neighbor said he saw the flames and busted a window in the home to help, but he didn’t hear a response while waiting for first responders to arrive.

Another neighbor said the woman who lived in the home was in her 60s and was known as a pillar of the community for her kindness and charity work.

“She’s a very good person with a very good heart,” F T said. “She does well for others before she does for herself. She’s a good person.”

T said he last saw her three days ago.

They said she owns multiple properties around Jacksonville.

JFRD said there is no foul play suspected.
