(Courtesy: FDOT.)

Two people are recovering from injuries after a crash on the southbound side of the Veterans Expressway in Hillsborough County caused big delays early Tuesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

What we know: The crash happened shortly before 6 a.m. near the Waters Ave. exit.

FHP said a 58-year-old Spring Hill man lost control of his Ford Mustang while changing lanes, hitting a barrier wall before skidding into the path of a Tesla Model 3, which then hit the Mustang.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries, troopers said, with the 35-year-old driver of the Tesla going to the hospital.

All southbound lanes were blocked at one point, but have since reopened.
