2 injured after “accidental” shooting on Lakeshore Circle in Charlotte County

Deputies had a driveway blocked off with caution tape for a shooting investigation underway at a Charlotte County home on Monday morning.

According to reports, deputies responded to Lakeshore Circle in Port Charlotte shortly after midnight for reports of a shooting. Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and are receiving medical treatment.

Deputies say the incident appears to have been an accidental discharge where to subjects were struck by fragmentations.

Deputies are not letting any cars or pedestrians through the area of US-41 and Tarpon Boulevard.

NBC2 crews on the scene said they continued to see forensics out where investigators were focusing on a car in the driveway of a home on Lakeshore Circle. Deputies said the person who fired the shots has been cooperative.
