Ocala Fire Rescue faced two structure fires on Wednesday morning, both resulting in two very different outcomes.
Multiple crews fight 2 separate fires
What we know:
The first fire broke out just before 3 a.m. on SE First Avenue. Multiple firefighters arrived to find a shed engulfed in flames, which had spread to a nearby mobile home.
Hours later, just after 7 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to investigate another fire at a home on SW 5th Street. Firefighters encountered heavy flames on the roof of a single-story home.
Efforts to suppress the fire were complicated by a downed power line and a propane tank on the property. The fire was brought under control by 7:23 a.m., with assistance from the Fire Prevention Division, Ocala Police Department, and Ocala Electric Utility.
The residents of the first fire evacuated the home safely before the Ocala Fire Rescue arrived. The home where the second fire was reported was unoccupied at the time.
No injuries were reported at either scene.
What we don’t know:
The cause of the fires is under investigation by the Fire Prevention Division.
