A 21-year-old man was indicted on Tuesday in connection to his mom’s murder last month, according to the State Attorney’s Office.
On July 30, Donald Donell Jamison allegedly shot two people at the El Sol de Mexico Bar & Grill in Brooksville and fled the scene, officials said. His mother, 53-year-old Claudia Barbosa, and another victim were found with gunshot wounds.
Claudia was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Following a statewide search for Jamison’s vehicle, Florida Highway Patrol troopers found and detained him before he was taken back to Hernando County.
Officials said Jamison attempted to escape while in custody but was immediately detained and arrested.
Jamison was indicted for premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm, attempted felony murder, escaping a law enforcement officer, and two counts of robbery with a firearm.
