A 28-year-old Pensacola man was arrested overnight after a chase in Escambia County with Florida Highway Patrol.
T’ D is charged with:
- Fleeing and Eluding
- Driving with a Suspended License
- Reckless Driving
- Vehicle Theft
- Hit and Run
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Resisting Arrest
The incident began around 1:10 a.m.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, troopers saw an SUV speeding on Highway 29, north of Nine Mile Road. The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled east on 9 1/2 Mile Rd. and then south on Old Palafox Hwy.
FHP says the pursuit ended when the trooper used intentional contact as the SUV attempted to turn left on Flagler Drive.
The driver, D, ran a short distance before the trooper used his taser to stop him. He was then placed under arrest without further incident.
FHP says troopers seized narcotics from the vehicle, which will be sent to the FDLE lab for testing, as well as multiple guns.
D was transported to the hospital before being cleared and booked into Escambia County Jail.
