29-year-old woman dies after being hit in Marion County

A crash on US 301 in Marion County killed a pedestrian.

Florida Highway Patrol officials say a 29-year-old woman was in the southbound inside lane of US 301 near Citra Wednesday evening. It is unknown if she was standing or laying in the lane.

An unknown vehicle was traveling in the same lane and struck the woman.

The 29-year-old was then run over by multiple other vehicles.

All southbound lanes have re-opened since this crash.

FHP is investigating the crash.
