3 transported as trauma alerts in Polk County crash

A crash in the Avon Park area sent three people to the hospital as trauma alerts, according to Polk County Fire Rescue.

Officials said the crash happened on U.S. 27 North near the intersection with South Scenic Highway around 4:05 p.m.

All lanes of U.S. 27 were closed as crews investigated but have since reopened.

The crash is being investigated by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
