34-year-old bicyclist hit, killed on Chemstrand Road in Escambia County

A 34-year-old bicyclist was hit and killed in a crash Wednesday morning in Escambia County, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

FHP states the bicyclist — a Pensacola man — was travellingon Chemstrand Road towardthe intersection of Breezy Acres Road around 6 a.m.

He was not wearing any reflective clothing and the rear of his bike was without a red light, according to FHP.

As a 24-year-old Jay man drove on Chemstrand Road in his sedan, the bicyclist was not visible to him, according to FHP. The two eventually collided.

Escambia County EMS medics declared the bicyclist dead on the scene.

No further details were released.
