36-year-old Melbourne man killed in Brevard County crash, troopers say

A 36-year-old Melbourne man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Brevard County on Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the fatal crash happened at State Road A1A and Seagrape Road around 5:36 p.m.

According to a crash report, a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was traveling south on A1A, south of Seagrape Road. At the same time, a Hyundia Veloster was traveling north on A1A, south of Seagrape Road.

Troopers said “an impact occurred between the front” of the Dodge and the Hyundai, which caused both vehicles to run off of the road onto the northbound shoulder.

According to the report, the FHP is still attempting to determine which vehicle left their lane.

The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as a 65-year-old Vero Beach man, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The northbound lanes of A1A are closed while troopers investigate the crash.
