37-year-old woman dies in Columbia County after hitting a tree: Florida Highway Patrol

A 37-year-old woman died in Columbia County on Tuesday after her SUV hit a tree.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the SUV driver collided with two signal supports before driving onto private property and ultimately hitting a tree.

The accident occurred on State Road 247 and SW Callahan Ave. around 4 p.m.

FHP said the driver, from O’Brien, was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash.

She was transported to HCA Lake City, where she died of her injuries.

No other vehicles were involved.
