A crash in an Orange County neighborhood injured five people on Thursday night, according to first responders.
A spokesperson with the Florida Highway Patrol said the two-car crash happened near Landstar Boulevard and Iowa Woods Circle in the Meadow Woods area.
According to FHP, a 78-year-old Orlando man was driving a 2022 Subaru Outback with a 49-year-old Orlando woman as a passenger. He was on Iowa Woods Circle at a stop sign, waiting to make a left turn onto Landstar Boulevard.
As he started to turn, troopers said he failed to yield to a 2009 Honda Civic traveling on Landstar Boulevard, driven by a 19-year-old Orlando man with two passengers: an 18-year-old Orlando man and 20-year-old Orlando man.
FHP said the Outback struck the front left side of the Civic, causing the Civic to run off the road and hit a tree.
A spokesperson with Orange County Fire Rescue said one of the cars caught fire in the crash and three patients were entrapped before they were rescued.
FHP said all five people were critically injured and taken to the hospital, adding the crash remains under investigation.
