5-year-old boy taken to hospital after being hit by vehicle in Lee County

A 5-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle at Timber Creek Drive and Daniels Parkway.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, he was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center with a head laceration. FHP also said he was awake and breathing.

The driver remained on the scene and FHP said troopers are investigating the crash.
