City of Miami firefighters responded to an apartment building Friday morning after flames erupted inside a unit.
According to Lt. Pete Sanchez, the fire was reported just after 10 a.m. at 8450 NE Miami Ct.
“On arrival, crews found a two-story residential garden style apartment complex with heavy smoke and flames showing from the first floor,” Sanchez said in an email to Local 10 News. “Immediately, the incident was upgraded to a Code 1 working fire dispatching additional resources.”
According to Sanchez, firefighters extended hose lines and went into the building to attack the flames and search for any victims.
He said the building was deemed all clear and the fire was under control within 15 minutes.
While the fire was contained to the unit of origin, Sanchez said the adjacent unit sustained smoke and water damage.
He said six adults have been displaced but the American Red Cross was not needed as the building owner will be securing housing for the affected residents.
The Miami Fire Investigation Unit will determine the origin and cause of the fire.
No injuries were reported.
