61-year-old bicyclist killed in wreck at Pace Boulevard intersection in Escambia County

A 61-year-old Pensacola man is dead after a pickup truck crashed with a bicyclist Wednesday afternoon in Escambia County.

It happened around 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of W Jordan Street and N Pace Blvd.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred between an 83-year-old Pensacola man in a pickup truck and the 61-year-old bicyclist.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead on scene.

No further details were released.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Traffic Homicide Unit of the Florida Highway Patrol.

The roadway is blocked as crews work the scene.
