68-year-old Pensacola woman dies in single-vehicle crash

A 68-year-old Pensacola woman is dead after a single-vehicle crash Saturday in Escambia County, according to FHP.

Troopers say the crash occurred around 5: 30 p.m. when a 62-year-old Pensacola man driving an Audi SUV was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 approaching Exit 17 to Scenic Highway.

According to FHP, the Audi struck a large concrete wall after losing control while taking a curve in the roadway. This caused the SUV to spin in the ditch, ejecting the front passenger.

The 68-year-old passenger was pronounced deceased on the scene, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the 62-year-old driver was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital and is in critical condition.

No further details have been released.
