7 cars damaged after semi-truck crashes into power pole, placing power lines across US 19

Portions of U.S. 19 were closed for some time after a semi-truck hit a power pole and knocked it over in Largo, causing downed power lines, officials said.

The Largo Police Department says the accident happened sometime Monday at Frontage Road near Belleair Road. Officers, along with Largo Fire Rescue, responded to the scene.

There were reportedly seven cars damaged from the accident. Five patients were medically evaluated at the scene, but were not taken to the hospital, according to LFR.

Duke Energy later responded to the scene to assist in moving the pole and lines off the street. The scene was cleared by around 2:39 p.m.

LPD says the northbound lanes on U.S. 19 have since reopened.
