A 72-year-old man was killed, and his wife injured, after the truck they were in rolled over multiple times in Port St. Lucie.
On January 31 at 9:40 a.m., the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) said officers responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on SE Village Green Drive, just north of SE South Niemeyer Circle.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a black Toyota Tundra pickup truck, driven by 72-year-old JB, was traveling eastbound on SE Village Green Drive. As the truck approached a curve north of SE South Niemeyer Circle, B struck the curbed center median and collided with a large tree in the center median. The impact caused the truck to roll over multiple times, ejecting both B and his wife.
B sustained serious injuries and was transported by the St. Lucie County Fire District to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, where he was later pronounced dead, PSLPD said. B’s wife sustained non-life-threatening injuries. She was taken to the same hospital as her husband.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, police said.
