79-year-old man dead after collision, woman and two small children hospitalized

A 79-year-old man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Fort Pierce, police say.

According to the Fort Pierce Police Department, the crash occurred around 4:37 p.m. near Edwards Road on Tuesday.

Officers say the crash involved a Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck driven by a 24-year-old woman and a red Chrysler Pacifica minivan driven by a 79-year-old man.

The 24-year-old woman was traveling with two girls ages two and four, police say.

Police say the woman was traveling west on Edwards Road when it crossed into eastbound traffic and collided head-on with the 79-year-old man’s car.

During the collision, the pickup truck ended up flipping onto its roof. The two driver and the children were then taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital.
