Eight people were hurt in a crash that snarled traffic along I-4 in Hillsborough County on Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
What we know: The crash happened shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday on the westbound side of I-4 near the Thonotosassa Rd. exit in the Plant City area.
Troopers said a Hyundai Entourage van rear-ended a Chevy Tahoe that was stopped in traffic, then crashed into the back of a Chevy Silverado.
Four people in the van and three in the Tahoe went to the hospital with serious injuries, FHP said. The driver of the Silverado suffered minor injuries.
The westbound lanes were shut down at one point, with lane blockages causing a miles-long backup for hours.
What we don’t know: FHP did not release the names of those involved in the crash.
