81-year-old driver killed in 2-car crash in Pasco County

An 81-year-old Hudson man died Monday following a two-car crash that caused his vehicle to overturn on SR-52.

The crash happened around noon on Monday, Feb. 10 near the intersection of Little Road in Hudson, according to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Officials said the 81-year-old, who was heading east in a Jeep Cherokee, tried to turn left into a plaza, but in doing so, entered the path of a single unit commercial truck.

The truck then struck the Jeep, causing the Jeep to rotate and overturn, the FHP reported. The elderly driver was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The truck driver, a 62-year-old Apollo Beach man, was not injured, according to troopers.
