A North Palm Beach man died after falling off his wheelchair and onto the road over the weekend as he tried to navigate barriers on the side of the road.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), Frank Fischer was heading east on the shoulder of Jack Nicklaus Drive, in North Palm Beach, early Saturday afternoon.
He came upon the barricades as he got close to Portage Landing South and went into a vehicle lane to go around. Despite that, Fischer, 90, hit the barricade and was thrown from his wheelchair, the PBSO crash report stated.
Fischer was taken to the hospital where he died on Monday.
