2 people killed in crash along I-75 near Ocala

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say two people were killed in a crash along I-75 around 9 miles south of Ocala Saturday evening.

FHP troopers say that one male and one female died in the crash around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, just north of exit 341 onto I-75 from Highway 484.

Troopers said they don’t know why the car swerved off the road and hit a concrete support. The car then caught on fire. Marion County Fire Rescue crews said they found both the driver and passenger inside the car dead.

The crash initially blocked all northbound lanes of I-75, but they reopened less than an hour later. Exit 341 was blocked for hours.

FHP Troopers said they are still working to identify the victims.
