Attack at Volusia County inn leaves senior citizen in critical condition

An elderly man was arrested last week after an attack left a 70-year-old woman hospitalized, according to the South Daytona Police Department.

In a release, police said they responded on July 25 around 4 p.m. at the Red-Carpet Inn, located at 1855 S. Ridgewood Ave.

At the time, 69-year-old WC was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant, and he now faces a charge of aggravated battery on a person over 65, police added.

“The female victim remains in critical condition at the Halifax Health Medical Center,” the release reads.

The release also shows that the incident happened on July 24 at 10:54 p.m. in Room No. 123.

No additional information has been provided at this time, including what may have prompted the attack.
