One woman is dead and two people are injured after a residential structure fire in Escambia County on Tuesday evening.

A county spokesperson says emergency crews responded to the fire on the 2800 block of East Kingsfield Road at around 6 p.m.

According to Escambia County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Wesley Barnett, a man was flown to the hospital. A woman was transported to a hospital.

Barnett says he believes the fire started in the kitchen after someone left their cooking food unattended.
