A 73-year-old woman died Friday after losing consciousness in a medical episode behind the wheel.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), at around 8:30 p.m., an elderly woman from Greenacres was traveling westbound on Nautica Isles Blvd. when she approached an SUV stopped due to slow traffic.
Deputies say a medical episode rendered the woman unconscious, causing her to drift slightly northwest at a slow speed, impacting the back of the SUV.
The driver of the SUV observed the woman unconscious and called EMS, which deputies say later extricated her and transported her to John F. Kennedy Medical Center, where she later died.
PBSO noted that the woman had multiple medical conditions, and her death was medical in nature.
