A 61-year-old Tampa man is recovering from injuries after officials say he had a medical emergency before crashing a commercial truck he was driving on I-75.
The Florida Highway Patrol says this happened just before 8 a.m. Monday, when the man was driving the truck on I-75 southbound, near Big Bend Road.
Troopers say the driver lost control of the truck after suffering a medical emergency, causing him to enter the median, hit a guardrail and overturn back into the roadway.
Traffic cameras early Monday morning showed the truck jackknifed as emergency crews were on scene. Southbound lanes were closed for several hours, but have since reopened.
The 61-year-old was taken to a local hospital for medical care.
A 35-year-old Tampa man was also reportedly in the vehicle, but he was not hurt.
