A 35-year-old Ocala woman is behind bars on an attempted murder charge after she was accused of slitting her boyfriend’s throat with a knife.
A woman, identified as CHK, called the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, January 2, and reported that her boyfriend had “slit his own throat” before driving away from his home, according to the arrest report.
Several deputies responded to the residence and observed a “large knife” in the kitchen, along with “droplets of suspected blood on the floor.” In addition, blood was allegedly visible on K’s right hand.
The report stated that additional deputies also responded to a local hospital, where K’s boyfriend – referred to in the report as the victim – was being treated for his injuries. The victim told the deputies that he had driven himself to the emergency room after K “sliced his throat” with a knife.
According to the victim’s statement, K has lived with him for the past few months. On the morning of the incident, he advised that he began arguing with K while standing in the kitchen.
During that argument, K allegedly grabbed a large kitchen knife, approached the victim, and “sliced his throat slowly.” The victim stated that he grabbed a hand towel before exiting the home and driving to the hospital, according to the report.
An MCSO sergeant noted in the report that the victim admitted to having “a few drinks” on the morning of the incident, though the victim was adamant that he did not harm himself.
The sergeant responded to the incident location and made contact with K outside the home. After being read her Miranda rights, K claimed that the victim had become “belligerent” on the morning of the incident, according to the report.
During the post-Miranda interview, K claimed that the victim walked into the kitchen and then headed to his car, which was parked outside the residence. She told the sergeant that the victim was “going crazy,” and she allegedly saw him make a “cutting motion across his neck” with the knife while inside the vehicle.
K stated that she called law enforcement shortly after the victim drove away from the home, and she claimed that the knife was allegedly still in the victim’s possession. The report said that a search of the victim’s vehicle was conducted in the hospital’s parking lot, and a knife was not found.
A search warrant was obtained for the victim’s residence, and deputies observed a knife in the kitchen sink. The report mentioned that blood was also found in several places, including the living room, dining room, and kitchen, which led the deputies to believe that the incident had occurred inside the home and not in the victim’s vehicle.
K was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail, where she is currently being held without bond. She is being charged with attempted first-degree murder.
On Tuesday, February 3, K is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m., according to jail records.
