Woman arrested in hotel room for allegedly kicking pregnant friend in the stomach

A Leesburg woman was arrested at Best Value Inn for allegedly kicking her pregnant friend in the stomach during a confrontation.

Officers responded to an undisclosed hotel after 24-year-old Diamond Danielle Brown battered her pregnant friend in one of the rooms around 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.

The friend advised that Diamond stopped by to say hello to her and her children. She asked if she could drop her Dollar General grocery store bag there while she walked to a nearby store, which the friend agreed to. Neither she nor her children moved it in her absence, the report said.

Twenty minutes later, Brown came back to her room, grabbed the bag and left. She returned moments later to say something was missing. The friend and her children agreed to look for it, but Brown could not specify what was missing, the report said.

Brown became frustrated and started to scream at the friend. She tried to calm Brown down and told her to leave due to her behavior. Brown instead grabbed an empty bottle of coconut alcohol and threw it at her, the report said.

The friend managed to dodge it, responding by pushing Brown toward the front door. She then became aggressive toward the friend and hit her multiple times. The front door opened at one point, and she pushed Brown to the ground just outside. She proceeded to drag Brown away from the doorway to separate her from her children, the report said.

Brown continued to hit her, so she yelled for help. As Brown pinned her to the ground, she stated she was five months pregnant. Brown advised that she was never told this, kicked her in the stomach and bit the top left side of her stomach area. An unknown driver later stopped just outside her room, and Brown took the opportunity to leave with them, the report said.

The friend’s shirt was mostly ripped when speaking with law enforcement. She sustained a cut on her foot, a bite mark on her stomach and other small cuts around both her legs. She also showed the officers pieces of a broken bottle from the incident, the report said.

A witness stated he was working in a different room when he overheard the friend yelling and asking for help. He went over to see her and Brown exchanging blows. As soon as he called the police, Brown left, the report said.

The witness later added that Brown had gone just down the street to the Best Value Inn, located at 1412 S 14th St. The officers found her in her room and apprehended her without incident, the report said.

She claimed that she passed by the friend’s hotel room to pick up her paycheck. However, the friend stated she did not have it and struck her. Brown immediately left without hitting her. She also denied knowing about the pregnancy, the report said.

During this conversation, the officer saw an open wound on Brown’s foot, slight bruising on her left earlobe, a small cut on the back of her neck and a slight cut on one of her fingers. These injuries were not consistent with her statements, the report said.

Brown was arrested on charge of aggravated battery on pregnant victim. The California native was booked at Lake County Jail and released after posting $5,000 bond.
