The Florida Highway Patrol said a man died in Marion County on Wednesday evening after a pickup truck left the road and struck him while he was riding a lawnmower.
FHP said the crash happened on NW 118th Street Road, near Reddick, around 6:45 p.m. when a Ford F-150, which was heading south on the roadway, “failed to negotiate” a sharp right curve.
The pickup truck left the road, hit a traffic control sign, and then hit a 73-year-old man from Reddick who was riding his John Deere lawnmower on the roadway’s shoulder, FHP said.
The truck then hit a large tree, the agency added.
The 73-year-old man died at the scene.
Troopers said that the driver of the F-150 was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
